Starting 1st December 2005, all DW satellite transmissions to Asia will be shifted to AsiaSat 3S. Transmissions via AsiaSat 2 will, however, continue simultaneously until 21st January 2006 in order to give you the time for the necessary alterations. Please adapt your receiving equipment to the new parameters:
AsiaSat 3S digital
Frequency: 3.760 GHz
Polarization: horizontal
Video standard: PAL
Symbol rate: 26.000 Ms/s
FEC: 7/8
DW-RADIO German: DW1 (stereo)
DW-RADIO English: DW2
DW Radio programmes
in other languages: DW4, 5, 7, 8, 9
Additional services: EPG (Electronic programme guide)
Teletext
First the satellite antenna has to be aligned to the new orbit position 105,5° East. Then you have to start a programme search with the new parameters (see the instruction manual of your receiver). And finally you select the DW Radio and TV programmes of your choice.
In most cases, the equipment used to receive DW via AsiaSat 2 will work perfectly for Asia 3S, too. However, if your receiver was produced before 1997 it may be possible that you cannot receive DW-TV anymore. Then we recommend to buy a new model which is able to decode teletext as well.
Please find attached a footprint map.
